Clay Collab is a creative consultancy + multidisciplinary design collaborative based in the mountains of Cantabaco, Toledo City, Cebu – an effort led by Kaloy Mapeso Uypuanco and Mia Go Uypuanco with the vision of designing experiences sustainably and soulfully.

MEET THE CO-CREATORS

We are multi-passionate creatives with a shared love for storytelling and culture, and a shared desire for sustainable design practices. Through the years, our work and intentions around our work have evolved. What began as a hustle to gain foundation, lessons, and experiences have now transitioned into a desire for integration and deeply rooting our value systems into the ground.

Kaloy is an architect with in-depth experience in live events, production design, film production, and architecture design focusing on sprawling hospitality developments and F&B. He describes his architecture work as ‘adventure architecture’. His star sign is Libra and he is a Projector in Human Design, making him innately good at troubleshooting and offering guidance.

Mia is an artist who has experience in photography, film production, and visual design. At present, she is a full-time mother first followed by the many interests that bring joy to her life. Her star sign is Sagittarius and she is a Manifesting Generator in Human Design, a multi-tasker at heart, a skill hoarder, and someone who thrives outside of the box.

OUR PRACTICE

Clay Collab embodies a philosophy grounded on connection – to our Selves, to our communities, and to the land we inhabit. We believe that a sustainable future means looking into how deeply rooted our foundations and value systems are. It’s our belief that we are all interconnected, one way or another, and when we design experiences for people to cherish and enjoy, we also put great consideration the impacts it will have on both our direct communities and to the Earth.This approach, not only in design but also in life, helps us be more mindful of our process and in effect, it allows us to create holistic and intentional experiences for everyone.

OUR INTENTIONS

Our intention for our work is continued growth (internally and externally) where we can foster a culture of empathy and authenticity. We value systems that are gentle on the soul and we hope to be an example of that. Along with all these, we hope to deepen our connection to community through the universal stories we all share and through well-designed experiences and environments we can relish in.

CREATIVE PROCESS

Our process is intuitive and an embodiment of connection, more than anything else. It is ever-evolving and works around a feedback loop informed by our growth and our culture. This will serve as our guide to ensure that we are on the same page but as with anything else, each project will hold its own nuance and unique way of unfolding.

Information and Research
We lay the foundations by putting context into our project. We will gather all the information needed to understand the client’s vision and needs. After which, we will study the data that has been provided to come up with creative solutions.

Exploration and Collaboration
At the heart of our work is exploration and collaboration. This is where we play, have fun, conceptualize, explore ideas and depending on the context of your project, collaborate and connect with other creatives to help bring the project into fruition.

Develop and Translate
After designing and coming up with creative solutions, we will translate and execute all data gathered into an experience – whether it be through a space, a brand, or an event, amongst other platforms.
